I know you have all heard the saying “it’s about doing the little things right” and it’s so true! To add on to that, you have to do the little things right and you have to do them that way often! The people who go on to be really good at what they do, pay attention to the small details. They never just go through the motions because they make every ounce of everything they do count towards their success.
The Little Things
The little things are those small things you do every day that you don’t think is a big deal. You would never just skip practice but you could take it easy on some aspects of practice. Anything in your training that you think is not a big deal is one of the little things that add up to be a big deal.
For example, as a track athlete, I know a lot of people who like to skip bounding at the ends of their workouts for whatever reason. One day is no big deal, but by the end of the year, I realized that anyone who had skipped bounding every time missed about 2000m worth of bounding. Those little things turn around and become huge things that bite you in the butt at the end of the season.
Tips to Be Consistent
- Get used to living your life more by a routine
- Don’t see things you skip as a one-time event, look at the big picture
- Act as if eyes are always on you
- Never take shortcuts
- Every day in every way look to get better and better
