When anyone picks up a book, they are performing a mental exercise. The act of reading activates all kinds of things in your brain. It makes connections that were never there before. Reading daily is going to keep your mind growing.
Making connections between synapses in the brain. Much like doing anything mental you re going to learn new things. However, reading adds benefit to obtaining real knowledge of whatever it is you are consuming. If you are reading about a famous player, for example, you get the benefits of increases cognitive function as well as learning new things for the book.
Reading is going to increase the function of the brain actively. It will create those new connections as well as improve the athlete’s ability to be creative. It is going to increase there overall ability to perform in the classroom. Increase there writing talent, math skill, comprehension. All of which will be directly connected to there ability to function mentally on the field, court, or track.
Learning New Ways To Train And Think
Once you have gone down the road of reading, you will find that you will be reaching out to learn more. The search for knowledge once it gets going is a profound one. It is hard to stop. Why would you want to stay that anyway? The answer is you wouldn’t. Reading daily is going to open you up to brand new ways to train than ever before.
Reading about new and possibly better ways to function. New methodologies used by some of the greatest in the sport. Reading will significantly develop your ability to think on your own. You will form your personal opinion. You will create your unique view on things. It will go a long way in building your personality.
Reading will help unlock your mind. It will create a new sense of openness you never had before. You will be willing to experiment with proven methods as well as be ready to get in and learn how they work. It is incredible how frequent reading has made my athletic training evolve so much. If I were closed minded, I would be doing the same thing. Training the same way and never looking to develop my world.
Create Your World
When you read your imagination soars. It is the ability to create the person you want to be. Reading can unlock that for you. Text can be the one thing that gets you to think of yourself as more than you are. It gives you solid advice on subjects you may be interested in. Reading fiction has significantly been linked to increases in creativity. Without creativity, we would never imagine a world that is greater for ourselves.
Reading will give you the tools to become the athlete you always wanted to. It will provide you with the ability to talk in all circles; it will help you lead, it will help you train. The list goes on and on. Athletes that take the time every day to read something can create a world that only was not available to them before opening a book. All this being said it makes the athlete learned to see those benefits actively. You need to be open to all of this information for it to be able to penetrate into your being.
Think Quicker On The Field
When you are an athlete having the ability to think quicker than your opponent, that is going only to increase your ability to beat them. Faster reaction times, and better foresight. These two things are going to give you the upper hand against your opponents. It is going to be what you need to stay that one step ahead of everyone.
Reading helps your mind make those connections. All that worked your brain has been doing behind the scenes is going to be what you need to make those connections in the middle of the game.
These neurons are always firing, and reading will give those neuro signals a pathway. It is still an advantage to be the one on the field that can see whats about to happen before it happens. That skill is hard to train and even hard to conjure up.
Being in the right place at the right time. Making the right move at the right time. Being able to toe to execute against all of these things on the field is going to make you a better athlete. Imagine all that by just picking up a book to read every once and a while.
Become Easier To Coach
When you become open-minded. You become a heck of a lot more accessible to coach. You will be able to see why the coach is asking you to do something. You’ll understand the system. Being well read will also allow you have productive back and forths with your coach. It will be a discussion rather than a dictatorship or a mutiny.
Being able to understand the mission being told to you by your coach can and will always bee the easiest way to become a better member of the team. Reading daily can help increase your ability to understand things. Making you at the end of the day a better athlete and better person all around
