Who are the Millennials?
As per the Wikipedia; Millennials (also known as Generation Y) are the generational demographic cohort following Generation X. There are no precise dates for when this cohort starts or ends; demographers and researchers typically use the early 1980s as beginning birth years and the mid-1990s to early 2000s as ending birth years.
The smart and educated millennial generation is probably the generation where the innovation of high technology devices is at its peak and never stops.
Technology-dependent
In most cases nowadays, the young ones would likely prefer to spend their time with their gadgets in the comfort of their own homes instead of playing outside with others. Does this scenario prevent them from engaging in sports?
Most of the millennials are technology dependent beings where reliability on the internet in various ways is always evident. However, because of sports news and sports events, this generation became more open to sports. Also, there are also sports superstars whom we can follow on social media.
Who would forget about sports when our favorite basketball and volleyball players are still playing on the court? They are continuously inspiring us by showcasing their skills and abilities in their chosen field.
When our favorite soccer and football players are still on the field that is competing either locally and internationally, they are representing their respective countries. Indeed, they leave an impact for the younger generation to think about sports.
Since there are a lot of sports out there, you may not notice that what you are doing can be considered as a sport.
For example:
- enrolling in a swimming lesson during the summer season
- playing chess
- being engrossed in Scrabble
- and even a simple game of basketball and
- volleyball in the neighborhood all boil down to sports.
The active and tech-savvy millennials still love to engage in sports even though a lot of things also keep them preoccupied.
Where do they get their influences?
Some millennials may have an unwavering love for sports from the start, but others take time and eventually let their passion for sports growing inch by inch. Most of their influencers are coming from their family member. If a kid saw their father or their brother playing games, it may influence them to engage in some sport too.
Millennials believe that sports can be a precious and fun time to bond with family and loved ones.
On the other hand, having a skilled player in the family circle can help them see the fruit of hard work their relative do.
In school, some kids get hooked on sports through their physical education classes. Their Physical Education teacher initiated the interest in sports. Peers influence some of the youth.
Every different reason falls for the same purpose and goal – and that is to have fun, to bond with others and to excel!
Sports will teach what the millennials want to learn about discipline, valuing time and respect. Millenials will continue to improve for sports influence never stops.

Everyone has the right to play a game of his choice. It is an adrenaline-filled and exciting recreational activity that provides health benefits physically, emotionally, mentally and socially.
Through sports participation, you can improve strength, agility, flexibility, and endurance. Through sports activities, millennials can also get a time out from their gadgets.
Sports also help to boost your mood and can give you a definite feeling while releasing your stress. Its physical and mental health benefits are something that modern-day devices cannot provide, and that makes sports unique and whole.
By any other means, nothing can replace sports, and it is incomparable. The competition has built a history that will forever remain in the hearts of players and fans. It has created a remarkable reputation for trainers and coaches.
Even for the experts and learners and for beginners and professionals athletes. The watchers on the crowd make a big impact.
Sport is a haven for the millennials
People from one generation will always love sports. It will never get outdated, be obsolete or out of someone’s interest. It will still be on the latest, hottest, and trending topics.
The rise of high technology devices and gadgets might affect sports industry in various ways but not sports itself. These are the reasons as to why fields are still full of athletes, courts are always full of practitioners, they are still playing on boards, and schools still have learners.
It is important for the youth to engage in sports and be brave to be a better player because someday, you might get featured on television, newspapers and social media sites. What’s important is the individual’s courage to continuously learn, to develop and hone the best of their skills and abilities and to go beyond their limits.
Love for Sports
People never stopped loving sports regardless of the numerous electronic games popping up. Since sports are everywhere, you will see it globally no matter what new trends, fads and fashions, and technology come along.
No wonder sports will still and continue to get popular among the youth because of it has never-ending benefits and no one can resist it.
Millenials remain human, seeking and finding what is the best for them since they are not perfect.
Through sports involvement, the youth could discover self-awareness. Knowing their strengths and weaknesses, accepting the concept of winning and sometimes losing as well.
Truly sports participation can help the young generation to feel better about themselves. To connect with others, and just improve one’s skills and talents.
This generation might be perceived to be different from the others, but Millenials do love sports. They want to try, they want to learn, and they want to stay connected to the world.
Sports will always be available and accessible to everyone, millennials or not. No matter what this modern day offers, the young generation’s love for sports will never fade.
