Have you ever been watching a sport and you see an athlete moving so fast it feels like everyone else is moving in slow motion? Before other players can even think of what to do, the other player has already made there move and scored. It does not matter if it is soccer, football, track and field, basketball, cricket, or rugby because “Speed Kills” in every sport.
Have you ever stop to consider why people value speed so much? Why is it that an athlete can go from being undrafted at the NFL combine, to being drafted over there 40 times? The reason is that of a deadly myth that many have bought into. The myth that speed cannot be trained!
If you believe that speed cannot be trained, then you will always put a lot of value on speed because you think that you either have it, or you don’t, and nothing can be done about it either way. Here is the problem with that thinking though, if that is the case what in the world is a track coaches job?
If speed could not be trained, you would never need a track coach. Sprinting is a skill like throwing, or shooting a basketball and with practice, you can improve at any craft.
Take Advantage of The Secret
You have an opportunity right now to take advantage of the fact that most people think that speed can’t be trained. They don’t even bother to try and work on it. This is precisely why I created speed kills. I knew that there needed to be more people working to improve their speed.
We don’t need more athletes just accepting their genetic fate. Now apparently some people are more naturally gifted at skills than other, but that does not mean that you cannot improve your craft. I grew up racing a lot of kids that were way faster than me, but they never made the Olympics. The reason for this is because they did not work on their craft. They sat back and rested on the fact that they were fast and never felt they had to work on it.
I was blessed with some talent, but I spent every second I could working to get better and get faster. After years of doing this with many great coaches, I wanted to pass on all I had learned from my experiences and my time as an athlete.
Whether it was the NCAA, the Olympics, my primary goal is to help you improve and take advantage of the fact that you can develop this skill set.
Can You Do It?
It does not matter if you are a 300-pound lineman that is slow off of the line, or you’re a 100m sprinter that is looking for a bit of an edge. Speed kills can help you, and it has helped many athletes before you.
A lot of athletes don’t work on improving their speed because they just think it is the only something for fast athletes. As I was saying before though, speed is impressive in any sport. There is no more natural way to get noticed than having a beautiful set of wheels.
When you have the size to go with it, it is even more impressive. Just check out this video of Warren Sapp as proof. He was one of the fastest big guys I have ever seen play football. I have never seen a 300-pound lineman move like him. Is he talented of course but Warren Sapp put in work on his speed every offseason as he trained alongside his other defensive studs. The Bucs had one of the fastest defenses ever because they worked at it.
It Is Not Just About The Workouts
The one thing I focused on in speed kills is not to just make things about the workouts because there is so much more. In my long sprint career, I quickly learned that there are many ways to get to Rome, but there are some things that are non-negotiable. We focus on those things.
What Are Some of These Non-Negotiables?
Technique
No matter how great your speed program is, if your technique sucks, you will not only struggle to get faster, BUT you will look ugly while you fight. You also put yourself in a horrible spot when it comes to getting injured when your technique sucks.
No Short Cuts
No one program works for everyone. You cannot just take Usain Bolts workouts and do them and expect similar results. It does not work that way. We make sure that you have a program that is just right for you.
My brother was also an Olympic sprinter, but the workouts we used to get there were very different because everyone is different. If my brother and I are different, then you and your teammates will be different.
Hydration
If your body is not hydrated correctly, you have no chance. The human body is 70% water, and you need to drink accordingly. If you don’t drink water, your muscles will not function correctly.
Injury Prevention
No matter how fast you are, you can’t perform at your best if you are hurt. Health is one of the most important things you can spend time work on. Most people wait until they are injured, to start making moves. We also introduce you to tools like 9INE POINT where you can get help coming back from injuries.
Sleep
Sleep is when all of the real work to improve happens. If you’re not sleeping, you’re not as good as you could be. Workouts break your body down, good food gives you the ingredient to building your body back up, and sleep is when that building happens. You need to take advantage of this.
Diet
Diet is the last thing we go over because it provides the fuel for you to do what you need to do. You can’t have a Ferrari and give it the cheapest gas you can. The Ferrari will not run optimally. You need to feed your engine only the finest ingredients.
So What…
Get started with speed kills today. The advantages of being faster can change your whole life.
- More playing time
- Attracting more coaches
- Having more fun
- Scoring more
- More opportunities to play at the next level
What part of any of the above sounds bad? All of this can be your life, but it will require taking a step forward and investing in yourself and your future. Speed Kills in every sport, and I want to make sure you are the one making the killing and not the one getting killed. Either you wake up, and you are the Lion or Gisselle. You make a choice.
