A – Z Keys to Staying Motivated in your Sports Career
Motivation is a key factor that will determine the amount of success you will attain in life. I’m going to share with you some tips that can help you boost your motivation level and keep you at the peak of your performance in your career.
A – Avoid people, places and things that stress you out and those that do not motivate you to be better. Surround yourself with those that motivate to accomplish tremendous results in everything you do.
B – Believe in yourself, and in your own abilities. Motivation comes from within, should you trust in your skills that you can come out on top! Motivation is the secret ingredient for all success. There are many facets of life that determine the amount of motivation we’ve got at any given time. Pain can be a motivator, as well as pleasure. The degree to which we need to have some situation or something is another incentive. Determination and desire have the ability to ignite powerful motivation.
C – Concentrate! Motivation comes from determination. You need to have the ability to concentrate your tasks that will help you achieve your goals and understand life. Never say never, there is always a way to succeeding at anything if you keep at it and stay focused.
D – Don’t give in, don’t give up! Did you know that Edison failed hundreds of times before he came up with his invention of the light bulb? Make motivation your anchor in life. The only way you lose for sure is when you give up! Many situations and circumstances in life will try to make you quit. Don’t let them!
E- Enjoy Life. The little thing in life are usually the ones that matter the most. Instead of being anxious about the things you haven’t achieved yet, be thankful for the ones you have achieved at the moment, and enjoy the current phase of your life.
F – Take care of Family & Friends – The truth is that they are your greatest treasures in life. Make sure you make out time to spend some quality time with them.
G – Give what is sufficient. Where do motivation and self-love meet? At the gym? At school? At work? Always aim to go over and beyond in every positive thing you do. Try to perform beyond expectations by underpromising and overdelivering.
H – Hang on to your goals. They can wobble in there for a while, but these small ‘lights’ are what keep you going in life. Dreams keep us motivated to go after the things that excite us. Holding onto your dreams shows the strength in your character and belief that you can achieve your expectations. Hang in there!
I – Ignore. You don’t need to react to everything you see or hear. Don’t let negative situations and people get the best of you. Stay away from toxic people – the kind of friends who don’t support your goals and surround yourself with those that are positive, and you will keep each other motivated to find the positives in life.
J – Just be yourself. One sure-fire way to achieve failure in life is by trying to please everybody. You need to take daily actions that are in your own best interest and avoid worrying too much about what other people think of you. The truth is that no matter what you do, you will be criticized.
K – Keep moving. Motivation keeps you striving for the best. If you fail, simply get back on your feet and try again.
L – Learn to love and celebrate yourself. That’s a simple key to staying motivated in life. Unless you love yourself, you can’t give love to others. Learn how to inspire yourself into working on daily personal improvement. Be responsible. Until you learn how to take responsibility for your actions, you won’t become a better person, or athlete.
M – Keep moving. Staying motivated means that you never settle, or rest on your previous achievements. You should always strive to be better than you were yesterday.
N – Avoid Negativity. Nothing will zap your morale and kill your confidence like hanging around negative, pessimistic people! Make friends with people that think positively and confidently.
O – Observe. Stay acutely aware of your environment, things, and people around you, so you know when to take the necessary steps to ensure success in your career.
P – Practice, Practice, Practice! Like they say, practice makes perfect. Practicing is all about staying motivated. It allows you to learn new and better ways to do things to avoid errors in the future. Maintaining the motivation to work hard towards what you want out of life will bring you greater rewards than sitting back and just waiting for life to happen to you.
Q – Never Quit. One of the most important tips I could share with you is the power of consistency. Regardless of how big your dreams are, you must be consistent to achieve them.
R – Stay Ready. Motivation is also about staying ready because things could change at any time. It is for a good reason that the motto of the Boys’ Scout reads ‘Be Ready.’ This is the type of life you should live, one where you are not scared of making changes to your own plans and you’re ready to take on new challenges from the get-go.
S – Stay Motivated. Motivation is when your dreams are put into overalls. For you to achieve any dream at all, you must be ready to pay the price, which means putting in the work!
T – Take charge of your life. This also implies self-discipline or self-control and it is a key component of motivation. Both are crucial factors in self-improvement. When you understand you’re motivated to work towards the attainment of your dreams and exactly what you would like out of life, you will definitely achieve more than the average person that lacks zeal.
U – Understanding others. I know you know how to speak, but do you know how to listen effectively? Yearn to understand first, and to be understood the second. When you understand people’s problems and you’re motivated to offer help to them, it builds your character. Nothing kills motivation more than discouraging speech. Choose to spend your time building up people with your words, and it will have a ripple effect to build your own life.
V- Visualize. Your thoughts can bring you whatever you desire in life. Visualize victory and success will be yours, continue worrying about defeat or failure and that might become your reality. Maintaining the motivation to visualize achievement of your own goals can guarantee you success in any endeavor.
W – Want your dreams more than anything else. Having a dream means that you believe you can achieve what might seem impossible. Having strong desires can provide you with the motivation you need to achieve your dreams.
X – Go the extra mile. How far are you willing to go to achieve your dreams?
Y – You are unique. No one in this world looks, talks or acts exactly like you. Value your own existence and live own life, because you’re just going to do it once. Remember, you’re one in a million! True motivation is for you and you use it to move forward in life by showing your uniqueness.
Z – Zero in on your dreams and go after them! Regardless of the many destabilizing situations in life, you’ve got to keep your eyes on the prize – What you want to make out of your life.
