Proverbs 18:21 (NIV)
“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Reflection
Trash talk might hype you up in the moment, but the words we speak have lasting power. Scripture says our words carry life or death. That’s not just poetic. It’s reality.
As an athlete, your voice matters. Teammates hear it. Coaches hear it. Opponents hear it. God hears it. Will your words build others or tear them down?
Speaking life isn’t about fake positivity. It’s choosing truth and encouragement, even in competition. Be the one who leaves people better than you found them.
Application
Give one word of encouragement today to a teammate, coach, or even an opponent. Watch how God uses it.
Compete with Faith. Grow with His Word.
