llMark 9:24 (NIV)
“Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, ‘I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
Biblical Context
A desperate father brought his suffering son to Jesus. His son had been tormented for years, and the disciples couldn’t help. So the father came to Jesus, raw and honest. He didn’t fake confidence. He said, “I believe, but help me with my unbelief.” And Jesus? He didn’t reject him. He met him with compassion and healed his son.
Reflection
Even the most devoted believers wrestle with doubt. You can love God and still question. You can have faith and still fear.
Athletes carry silent doubt all the time: Will I make the team? Will I ever come back from this injury? Am I good enough? Does this even matter?
This verse shows us something powerful: you can bring every ounce of faith and every ounce of fear to God. He doesn’t demand perfect confidence. All He wants is honesty. He wants you to come to Him, even when you’re unsure.
Spiritual strength isn’t pretending never to question. It’s choosing to bring those questions to Jesus rather than burying them. Faith is not the absence of doubt. It’s the decision to trust Him anyway.
Application
Take five minutes right now. Write down the doubts you’ve been carrying, the fears you haven’t said out loud. Then Pray them honestly to God. Tell Him where you’re struggling. Ask Him to help your unbelief. He can handle it.
Prayer Guide
Lord, I believe. But when doubt creeps in, help me trust You deeper. I bring my questions, my fears, and my hopes to You.
Reflect & Share
Talk to someone you trust about a doubt you’ve been wrestling with. Let them pray with you. You don’t have to carry it alone.
Compete with Faith. Grow with His Word.
