Luke 15:20 (NIV)
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.”
Biblical Context
Jesus told this story about a son who took his inheritance, left home, and wasted everything on reckless living. When he hit rock bottom, he decided to go back. However, he planned to return as a servant. He didn’t think he deserved to be called a son anymore. Yet, while he was still far away, his father saw him coming. Immediately, the father didn’t wait. He ran, threw his arms around his son and welcomed him home. That’s the heart of God.
Reflection
The story of the Prodigal Son is more than a parable. It’s your story, my story. Luke 15:20 shows the heart of God: always ready to welcome you home, no matter how far you’ve wandered.
Maybe you’ve messed up or feel spiritually distant. The Father isn’t waiting to punish you. Instead, He’s watching for your return with open arms.
No mistake disqualifies you. No failure separates you beyond grace. Just turn back.
Application
Reflect on where you’ve felt distant from God. Take one step back toward Him today through prayer or Scripture.
Prayer Guide
Father, thank You for always pursuing me. Forgive me when I drift. Draw me closer and remind me of Your grace.
Reflect & Share
If you know someone who feels like they’ve drifted too far from God, reach out to them. Share this story. Remind them God’s waiting with open arms. Sometimes people just need to hear they’re still welcome home.
