Mark 6:31 (NIV)
“Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

Biblical Context
Jesus and His disciples had been moving from one need to another. People kept showing up, asking for help, and crowding around them. It got so overwhelming that the disciples didn’t even have time to eat. Instead of telling them to push through, Jesus paused everything. And He invited them to step away with Him and rest.

Reflection

Today, hustle culture tells you to keep going, even when you’re drained. However, Jesus offers something completely different. He doesn’t shame your limits. He honors them. And He invites you to slow down.

This verse reminds you that rest isn’t laziness. Rest is obedience. And since Jesus Himself rested and encouraged it, you don’t have to feel guilty when you do the same. Rest strengthens your body, clears your mind, and renews your spirit.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is stop, breathe, and be still.

Application
Take a moment today, at least 15 minutes, to breathe and unplug. Step into a quiet space and be present with God. Allow Him to refill what life has drained.

Prayer Guide
Jesus, teach me to rest well. Help me trust that rest is not retreat but a rhythm of faith and health.

Reflect & Share
Check on someone who seems tired or overwhelmed. Encourage them to slow down. Remind them that rest isn’t weakness, it’s obedience. Sometimes people need permission to stop.

Compete with Faith. Grow with His Word.
