Proverbs 18:21 (NIV)
“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Biblical Context
Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, knew something most people miss: words aren’t just sounds. They’re seeds. They plant something, they shape reality, they carry power. The power to build up or tear down, to heal or to wound. And whatever you speak, you’ll eventually experience the fruit of it.

Reflection
Words have power. As athletes, your words can build up a teammate or tear them down. They can inspire belief or sow doubt. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that the way we speak isn’t neutral. It creates ripple effects.

What do you speak over yourself? Over your team? Over your future? Speaking life means aligning your tongue with God’s truth. It means calling out what is good, even when it’s easier to complain.

Start by listening to your own internal dialogue. If it’s filled with lies or negativity, replace it with Scripture. Speak life out loud, even if your circumstances haven’t changed yet.

Application
Choose one person to speak life to today intentionally. Send a message, encourage, or pray over them.

Prayer Guide
God, help me to speak with purpose and truth. Let my words bring healing, hope, and encouragement wherever I go.

Reflect & Share
First, pay attention to your self-talk today. Then, when you catch yourself speaking death (doubt, negativity, lies), pause and replace it with truth. Finally, share one truth you’re choosing to speak over yourself with someone you trust.

Compete with Faith. Grow with His Word.
