Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Biblical Context
Solomon, known for his wisdom, wrote this. He knew that even the wisest person can’t see everything. Our understanding has limits. But God’s doesn’t. So Solomon says: don’t rely only on what you know. Trust God with all your heart. Acknowledge Him in everything you do. When you do that, He’ll direct your path. He’ll make it straight. Not always easy, but always right.
Reflection
Athletes love control, training, nutrition, mindset, routines. However, life throws curveballs. Injuries, losses, setbacks remind us we’re not fully in charge. At the same time, that’s where faith grows.
Proverbs 3:5–6 calls us to surrender, not to give up, but rather to give in to the One who knows more, sees more, and loves more than we do. Surrender isn’t weakness; it’s wise. So, let go of what you’re gripping too tightly. Then, trust that God is writing a story greater than your plan.
Application
Identify one area you’ve been trying to control. Pray and give it over to God today.

God, I confess where I’ve tried to lead myself. Help me trust You more deeply and follow the path You’re laying out.
Reflect & Share
Talk to someone who seems like they’re carrying a heavy burden of control. Share this verse with them. Encourage them that surrender to God brings freedom, not loss.
