Time for money is the swap that we have all become so accustomed to. You give a company your time, and in return, they give you money. This is a trade that we have become so accustomed to that we don’t even try to challenge it, but when you think about it, you realize how stupid this concept is. Time is all that we have, so why trade one precious hour of it for eight bucks? We eventually can go on to salaried positions, but the same issue applies. You are paid with the expectation of doing a certain amount of work for a certain amount of time. Most people say they cant put a price on their life, but you do just that when you trade time for dollars.
What Should We Look For
The smart thing is to do things that allow you to make money without having to trade time directly. For example, a book is something that can make money long after you have put the time in on it.
When I was running my clothing line in college, I was introduced to the power of this. I spent that whole summer working for a moving company to get the funds I needed and I enjoyed it because I made so much money. I got $10 an hour for moves and often worked days that lasted 10 hours.
When I finally started the clothing line, I will never forget our opening day! I was traveling and launched it from the airport. In the time that I didn’t have internet, I had sold 12 shirts. I realized that I was not trading my time for money. I was flying to handle some other business yet I was still making money.
We should always be hunting for this kind of freedom with our time and money. There is nothing wrong with trading time for money as long as you really believe the trade is worth it. Ideally, The money we make from building another’s dream should go towards building our vision.
Understand the Value of Time
People miss how valuable time is. That summer I worked for the moving company I made what I thought was a lot of money, but there was a huge problem. I had no time to do anything else. I was lucky enough that my friend did it with me, so we got to hang out a lot, but my summer was killed. Having no fun because I had no time, I just slaved away.
Time is all we have and when we have families that become more evident. My Dad never had the most money growing up but what he always did was make time to be there for our family. He was there when we needed him and you can’t replace that time with money.
We can get so caught in the grind of making a living that we forget to make a life. Once we get trapped in this place we can see days, months, and even years just pass us by, and we won’t even know what happened.
Take the Stance
Stand to live for more than just a paycheque. Always be willing to analyze the time that a living will provide you with. If you make $150,000 a year doing something but it means that you will work six days a week for 70 hours a week is it worth your time?
Taking the stance means that you no longer just merely see dollar figures but you measure what your time is worth. I know for a fact that my time is worth more than $10 an hour and there is nothing that anyone can do to convince me otherwise. Working half the hours and making half as much are different lifestyles.
The key from here is to start doing things that scare you to death. It’s often the things that scare us to death like writing a book, starting a business, and creating an app that leads us to make money passively. That is what the athletic injury app 9INE POINT is all about. We had a vision, and we worked at it until it came to life. All athletes can free themselves from the bondage of not knowing what to do after sports.
Society tells us that if we need money, we get a job. I am saying you that if you need money, you need to create something that people want to buy because it solves a problem. Everyone can provide something that other people want. The way the Internet works this allows us to sell and make money at ANYTIME!
KHO Health was acquired by was acquire by 9INE POINT in the summer of 2019 and is now referred to as 9INE POINT Health.
