[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e live in a world that is extremely convenient. Waiting times are now limited, lines are frown upon, shipping over two days is considered outrageous, and the list goes on and on. This world has developed into “if it’s not fast I don’t want it” Which is great for material things but horrible for those that need to cultivate and grow personal traits and develop a profitable business, athletic traits and so on. Taking the time to master your craft will never be convenient but it will be worth it.

Millennial StrugglesSlow DownFind Your PassionMaster Your CraftDon’t Be So Hard On Yourself

There seems to be a disconnect between material goods and personal development. But the problem is the lack of patience has now crept into the entire equation. People wanted success yesterday, and people want their lives to be the greatest before they have even put any real work into what it is they want.

Millennial Struggles

It is something that most millennial’s deal with and I am not outside of this. I struggle with patience at a fundamental level. I want things to be a certain way before I have even gotten my hands dirty and this is the reason why I am writing this article today. Both an affirmation to myself that it is ok to grind and not worry about the end result.

The end result is the prize for all the grinding we are going to build whatever it is we are building. Grinding should be fun for us, difficult but fun. We need to learn to revel in the hardships that we are going to face when building our lives.

It is easy to read and it is easy to say but it is even harder to do because of the lives we live. Here are a few tips to help you get settled in for the long haul and worry about things day to day as opposed to what is going to happen a week, a month, a year, and 5 years from now.

Slow Down

Such a simple concept, slow down and take a breath. Yeah, it is simple but most things that are simple are difficult, and this may just be the most difficult. Take the time to evaluate what it is you’re trying to accomplish. It does not matter what it is you’re doing.

Be willing to slow things down. Make the things you’re doing count. Do not just rush through projects because you think that is what you’re going to need to get to the next level. Each and every step on your journey is important and slowing down to make sure what you’re doing is done to the best of your ability is going to be key to the quality of your work. Remember quality over quantity. The amount of work you do is nowhere near as important to the quality of that work.

Slow down to connect to the people you’re serving. Develop deep relationships with your customers, clients, coworkers, bosses, and so on. If you rush through interactions, you’re going to come off like an a**, and no one likes an a**.

So next time you feel like rushing through something. Take the time to breath ask yourself can I do better. If so then please slow down and make what you’re doing shine!

Find Your Passion

What does finding your passions have to do with patience you may be asking. Well, it has a lot to do with it and let me explain why. When you are deeply passionate about something then time does not really matter. You’re doing it because you love it. There is no rush and there is no slowing down you simply are living it.

Yeah, you may want that passion to grow faster than the next guy, but that is where the process of slowing down works hand in hand. It is important that the things you’re doing in life are filled with passion.

Loving the things you’re doing is important it will drive you on the shittiest of days, and it will propel you forward on the greatest of days. It will also force you to pump out some of the highest quality content because this is what your love!

Master Your Craft

Learn, and practice. These two things are going to bring a new light to the things you’re doing. Do not be set in stone in what you believe to be true. Be willing to learn more about what it is you are doing. Do more to increase your value to others.

Take the new things you are learning and put them into practice. Practice them often. Never grow so impatient that you think what you’re doing is the be all and end all. Learning is important to growth on all levels but not only learning but implementation as well.

Do not be afraid to take the things you’re learning and put them to use. Experiment and find what works best for your situation. This will force you to be patient because once again if you rush learning you will end up creating lower quality content.  This drastically fights with the first two pieces of advice.

Take time to learn, and you will cultivate a greater sense of what you’re doing. And it will create a greater sense of patience.

Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself

If you are finding yourself to be someone who is impatient and you are always giving yourself shit for things that are not fully in your control, then you need to learn to be a little be more compassionate with yourself.

It is important more so than even that you are your biggest fan. You need to be routing for yourself more than anyone else is rooting for you. That is what is going to keep you going in this life. Take the time to love what you’re capable of.

Remember to slow down, live your passion, and master your craft, and you will be well on your way to a fulfilling life! Don’t forget to read some great books for athletes.
