Imagine going to a bed thinking: “That was the most incredible day, and that is how I want most of my days to be.”. Well, how you start your day is how you live your day. It is not a science and it is not a secret.
We have been there, and yet we still sometimes make the same mistakes. We are the ones that define if negative impacts are going to have a good or a bad impact on our life. Your mind is a battleground, and you are competing with yourself and nobody else.
Be The One Who Is In Control
You must come up with a morning routine that you do every single morning or at least more than one, that puts you in control of yourself and in control of your day. Decide whether you are going through that day like a champion or like a minor.
You will notice the power you get from starting your day off bigger than your excuses and being in control. Starting your day as a badass knowing you accomplished more in the first 3 hours than most of the people did in a whole day is a psychological advantage you gain.
Wake Up On Time
When that alarm goes off, get yourself out of the bed. Why is that important for persistence? The reason why is because the first decision that you are making of the day is to get up and get moving.
That means you are persistently bigger than your excuses. You are persistently bigger than feeling lazy. And you are persistently beating the feelings that typically stop you. People that wake up early have an insane productivity advantage. Waking up early allows you to enter the flow state.
Flow is being completely involved in the activity. Ego falls away. Time flies, every action, and movement follows inevitably from the previous one like playing jazz. Your whole being is involved, since the flow is being in the zone, completely consumed in your work. Waking up early, because of the nature of the environment, ables you to focus more on your tasks.
Get Enough Sleep
In order to start your day off like a champion, do your best to have enough amount of sleep. Everyone has individually different sleep needs. According to the National Sleep foundation people between the ages of 18 and 25 want to get between seven to nine hours of sleep a night on average.
Unfortunately, in the modern world, we have a lot of artificial light that we expose ourselves to and this can actually dampen the secretion of a hormone in the brain called melatonin which makes you feel tired. So, if you are up at night staring at the screens and having bright lights on you, your brain thinks basically that it is daytime and you do not feel tired until it is too late.
One thing you can do is set an alarm to get ready and “prepare” for your bedtime. It tells you to stop doing what you were doing and go to sleep. As humans, we are wired to discount the value of future rewards. We increase the value of what we can get now. But the value of waking up feeling rested is more important than almost any other thing we do the night before.
Feed Yourself Good
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We heard it a hundred times and we are all familiar with the expression. On a typical morning, it is really easy to let breakfast fall low on your list of priorities. But it provides body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast.
According to the World Health Organization eating breakfast every morning and daily fruit consumption are two of the most important healthy eating habits.
A study from Harvard University states that men who regularly skip breakfast have a 27 percent higher risk of suffering a heart attack than those who do eat the meal. Women who skip breakfast have 20 percent higher risk of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Breakfast skippers of the world, unite and embrace this wonderful meal every morning of your life. Happy breakfasting!
That being said, go and make the most of it.
